James established his jewellery business in 1995 after returning home from London where he received awards from City and Guilds of London Institute British Jewellers’ Association and Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths Over 36 years James has made around 3,000 pieces in close collaboration with clients, providing him with the opportunity to listen create and understand the fundamental importance of incorporating design function detail and proportion for each individual

He has created pieces for distinguished clients of Asprey Garrard Boucheron Theo Fennell and Graff from royalty to rockstars His pieces have been worn by some of New Zealand’s most respected designers and shown on their catwalks including a collaboration with Cybele Wiren for her Idol's Eye collection James’ passion is in the beauty craftsmanship and form of fine jewellery within which he has discovered there are no boundaries
